See what Temtem has in store for its 1.0

Temtem will soon launch its 1.0 next month and we have a new trailer showing off the variety of content that players can look forward to.

That trailer is watchable in the embed below, but there’s a big focus here on combat, the various different ways to engage in it and rewards from success.

There’s nothing wrong with that we’re just surprised by the lack of focus on catching and training Temtem, which is half the fun of any creature game like this.

Despite being a short trailer we’re impressed by the variety here as it’s easy to forget that this is essentially an indie game even with Humble Games as the publisher. The fact that there’s so much to experience and it all looks so good is in stark contrast to the latest reveals for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet which still looks very rough around the edges, to be charitable.

The most interesting part of the trailer, to us anyway, is the “Gritarena” which allows players to use their own Temtem or random ones provided by the game. This reminds us a lot of the Battle Factory in Pokémon Emerald.

It’s no surprise that the Battle Factory is one of the most beloved – but sadly abandoned after generation IV – small modes that have appeared in the Pokémon. The ability to rent random creatures for battle adds a great bit of difficulty into fights as you need to lean on your knowledge of the battle system to make best use of what you have available, instead of spending an indefinite amount of time training up a squad.

We’re not sure if Gritarena will work anything like the Battle Factory, but we’re hoping.

Temtem is set to leave Early Access and release its 1.0 on 6th September for PC (Steam and the Humble Store), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
