Survive the Steam Survival Fest by using your wishlist

Valve has rolled out yet another sale in the form of Steam Survival Fest and, despite this branding, the best way to make use of it remains the same: the Steam wishlist.

Ever since Valve abandoned limited-time sales on Steam years ago there’s been no impetus to stake the site out to grab the best deals, which still makes the wishlist method the best.

What is the wishlist method? It’s simple. While using Steam normally add games you like to your wishlist. When a sale rolls around go to your wishlist and sort the list by discount.

And, well, that’s it. Steam will do the work for you and order the games by the highest percentage discount for your easy browsing.

This of course comes with the problem that you need to put in effort beforehand to make the most use of it, but now that you know the trick you can use it in the future.

While this trick is agnostic to the types of sales, what does Valve have in store for the Steam Survival Fest?

As with many events with the “Fest” moniker there’s a focus on demos too and not just buying games for less.

The main page for the sale can be found here, but the demo section is separate here

“Stake out your territory, scavenge for food, and beat the elements* during Steam Survival Fest, live now and featuring discounts, demos, and upcoming releases for survival games of all kinds!,” the announcement reads.

“*’Elements’ is, of course, the polite word for ‘holy crap there are a lot of things to survive in games,’ from the typical environmental situations to supernatural beings, with a whole lot more in between. Can you survive everything the Steam Survival Fest games might throw at you? There’s only one way to find out!”

The Steam Survival Fest ends on 8th August.
