Money (& chips) on the line at Comic Con Africa Crunch Cup 2022

Comic Con Africa has announced a series of events for the 2022 convention in the form of the Crunch Cup 2022.

This is a series of tournaments where attendees can play against each other, as well as pros, to win money and other prizes.

“Join us daily for free play gaming tournaments at the Doritos Crunch Cup Zone in the gaming hall at Comic Con Africa at the Johannesburg Expo Centre (Nasrec) for a chance to win R4000 & Flamin’ Hot Hampers ???? daily,” a press release sent to us reads.

“Daily ‘Beat the Pro’ challenges will also be taking place, and you could walk away with R1000 and bragging rights! Registration takes place between 09H00 to 10H30 daily at the Doritos Crunch Cup Zone, in Hall 7 at Comic Con Africa.”

Four games are supported with each taking place on a separate day of Comic Con Africa. Click on the name of each below to be taken to a PDF with more details on each:

Those serious about attending should keep the schedules in those PDFs in mind as the tournaments start with knockout rounds at 10:45 (after registration) and the grand finals only end at 17:00. That’s the entire day taken up by the tournament so those hoping to explore the convention and play too will need to attend more than one day.

Competitors should also carefully read the terms and conditions here in a separate PDF. It contains important information such as the fact that the games will be played on a PlayStation 4, and participants are allowed to bring their own PS4 controllers should they wish.

For those interested in who the pros are for the challenges, some headshots of each have been uploaded to the Comic Con Africa website here.

While this events are open to all attendees at the convention, only 96 spots will be available per day.
