Huawei Nova 10 SE now available in SA

  • Huawei showcased a series of new Nova-branded smartphones for the local market in September.
  • One of those devices was the Nova 10 SE, which was set to launch at a later date in South Africa.
  • Now the new mid-range smartphone has launched locally, retailing for under R9k.

In September Huawei Mobile South Africa showcased four new devices as part of its latest local Nova series lineup, three of which were launched in SA in the following days. One of the devices, however, the Nova 10 SE, was slated for release in the country later in the year.

That day is now upon us as the Nova 10 SE is now available to purchase in South Africa from local retailers. The device is recommended to retail for R8 499, with the local Huawei Online Store already listing it for purchase.

So what are you getting for that price?

Starting with colour options, the Nova 10 SE will be made available in either Starry Silver or Starry Black, with the Star Orbit Ring being used for the rear camera housing. Up front, a 6.67″ OLED display is present yielding a FullHD+ resolution (2400×1080), with support for a 90Hz refresh rate and P3 wide colour gamut.

Internally the 10 SE is sporting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680G chipset, 8GB RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. Added to this is a 4 500mAh battery that supports 66W fast charging. When utilising Huawei’s own charger and cable, you can get a fully charged battery from just 38 minutes of charging.

Shifting back to the camera setup, the front-facing option is a 16MP lens for portrait photography. The primary lens on the rear is a 108MP one, which is paired with an 8MP ultra wide-angle and 2MP macro camera to complete the trio.

With the wealth of smartphone options that already exist in the South African mid-range market, it will be interesting to see how the Nova 10 SE fares.
