South African Transformers fans can watch EarthSpark on Nickelodeon

  • Transformers: EarthSpark is the latest animated show to use the famous toy licence.
  • The series was first shown on Paramount+ in countries with access to this service.
  • In South Africa, Nickelodeon will premiere the show on DStv channel 305.

The latest piece of Transformers media is a new animated series called EarthSpark which started airing on Paramount+ overseas earlier this month. As Paramount+ is still not available in South Africa, Nickelodeon will premiere the show next week.

On 28th November Transformers: EarthSpark will air on Nickelodeon which is DStv channel 305.

“The much-anticipated return of Transformers is taking things to the next level by bringing a new addition to the team, a new generation of Transformers robots — the first to be born on Earth — and together with the human family who welcomes them in and cares for them, they’ll redefine what it means to be a family making sure to keep you glued to your screens,” reads a press release sent to us.

While the press release announces the South African availability of the show on DStv, it doesn’t provide a precise time. We checked DStv ourselves and can confirm that it will air season one, episode one at 16:20 which will run for 23 minutes until 16:43.

Interestingly DStv incorrectly lists the show as “Earth Spark” (in two words) instead of “EarthSpark” which is the official title of the series.

For those wanting to hear familiar voices in the cast, there are quite a few big names here:

  • Alan Tudyk as Optimus Prime
  • Rory McCann as Megatron
  • Danny Pudi as Bumblebee
  • Nolan North as Swindle and Hardtop
  • Marc Evan Jackson as Agent Schloder
  • Michael T Downey as Wheeljack
  • Sean Kenin Reyes as Soundwave
  • Nicole Dubuc as Skywarp and Nova Storm
  • Martha Marion as Arcee
  • Kari Wahlgren as Executive Agent Croft
  • Daran Norris as Mr. Smelt
  • Sydney Mikayla as Robby Malto
  • Zion Broadnax as Morgan ‘Mo’ Malto
  • Benni Latham as Dot Malto
  • Jon Jon Briones as Alex Malto
  • Kathreen Khavari as Twitch
  • Zeno Robinson as Thrash
  • Cissy Jones as Elita-1
  • Diedrich Bader as Mandroid

From that list, we’re most excited to hear Marc Evan Jackson who has accomplished much in his career, but is likely best known as Kevin in Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It’s also always a pleasure whenever Danny Pudi makes an appearance.

While you can watch a trailer for the show in the embed below, we can also look elsewhere to see what the reception of the show has been like since those in other countries have been able to already watch EarthSpark on Paramount+.

From following the community discourse reception seems to be very positive with discussion on places like Twitter mostly singing the praises of what has been shown.

South Africans will, of course, need to tune in on Monday to form their own opinions.
