TCL bringing its Google TVs to Zimbabwe

  • It is turning into a busy end of the year for TCL, as it recently brought its latest lineup of Google-supporting TVs to South Africa.
  • Now the company is bringing selected models to one of our neighbours, Zimbabwe.
  • This marks the first time it has done so, utilising distributor WRS Switchgear for the launch.

TV manufacturer TCL has been on a tear of late locally, launching its latest lineup of Google-supporting TVs in South Africa in October.

It followed that up by partnering with Pick n Pay to make selected models available to purchase in SA, but now the company is looking to expand its presence in Southern Africa.

This as it is partnering with distributor WRS Switchgear to bring its Google TVs to Zimbabwe.

“Launching into the country with an impressive starting range of Google-enabled TVs, the company will be focusing on its P735, 4K HDR Google TV With Dolby Atmos; the C735 and the TCL P635 4K HDR Google TV With Dolby Audio. Also on offer is TCL’s entry-level P615 model 4K Android TV with TCL AI built in,” it noted in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“With Google Assistant built-in, the TVs provide access to endless entertainment possibilities with the most advanced Smart TV system and easy access to favourite content with an integrated hands-free voice control system,” it added.

Much like it has done in South Africa, TCL is aiming to be quite aggressive in terms of pricing, with affordability one of the key selling points for the brand.

“We’re very excited to be bringing this global brand to the people of Zimbabwe, with more outlets being announced soon. We’re very proud to have the full range featuring Google TV, Google Voice Search activated commands and Google Duo video conferencing,” enthused TCL’s export sales manager PD Erasmus.

Currently ranked second globally among LCD TV brands, it will be interesting to see how its recent activities will see TCL rank in the Southern Africa region in the coming quarters.
