Back in 2021, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that it had made an investment in Discord. While it was a minority investment, it was an investment and there was talk that Discord would arrive on PlayStation soon.
Fast forward to over a year later and the most Discord users can do on PlayStation is share what games they’re playing. Meanwhile, the Discord app for Xbox now features native voice chat.
The feature first debuted in September of this year, although users needed to jump through a series of hoops to join a voice chat. That changes with the latest Xbox update.
“Starting today, we’ve made it even easier to chat with Discord friends across mobile, console, and PC. When your Discord account is linked to Xbox, you can now join voice channels from your Discord servers directly from your Xbox console,” principal group program manager at Xbox Experiences, Jonathan Hildebrandt said in a blog post published Wednesday.
In addition, noise suppression for Discord Voice is enabled by default on Xbox Series X|S consoles. This can be turned off via the Discord settings menu.
Among the other features being delivered with this update is the ability to livestream directly from an Xbox consoles. Users can now stream with Twitch, Lightstream and Streamlabs simply by selecting an option in the Capture & share menu. Xbox does note that because of this functionality, the Twitch app for its consoles is now dedicated to viewing only.

As for Discord on PlayStation, there is no official word on full integration with the application. Rumours reported by GameRant suggest that integration could happen in March 2023 but those are just rumours for the time being.
