Disney+ is coming to DStv Streama

  • In September MultiChoice finally revealed its DStv Streama box as a R1 299 solution designed for those who want to stream sans installation.
  • Having launched at the beginning of October, now DStv Streama is adding Disney+ to its catalogue.
  • DStv, Showmax, Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, and YouTube kids are available on the streaming box too.

After teasing its launch for a couple of years, MultiChoice finally revealed its DStv Streama box in September, with it available to purchase once-off for R1 299 sans any installation requirements from the beginning of October.

With the streaming box making DStv, Showmax, Netflix, and Prime Video available to customers, now MultiChoice is adding Disney+ to the mix.

“The DStv Streama enables customers to stream their favourite DStv content from sport, entertainment, news and education and gives them access to a variety of other apps, such as Showmax, Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, YouTube kids and from today, Disney+,” MultiChoice added in a press release.

“The DStv Streama upgrade demonstrates our commitment to giving our customers not only more value, more choices and more convenience, but a great viewing experience filled with all of their favourite content,” added MultiChoice South Africa CEO, Nyiko Shiburi.

Now those who own a DStv Streama will be able to access content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, along with programming from the Star network, which includes 20th Century Studios, FX, Searchlight Pictures, and ESPN.

Importantly though, we should point out that access to Disney+ is not free if you own a Streama, and you will still need to be a paying subscriber to access. Currently monthly pricing for Disney+ is listed at R119. Furthermore, the Streama box does not have an app store, as it instead comes with pre-loaded apps.

Should an installation not interest you, perhaps the addition of Disney+ will make Streama more appealing.
