• Hoping to assist should anything occur, Namola has announced that its Private Security Services will be freely available to all its active users.

The country is on edge this morning as a national shutdown has been planned by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).

While it remains to be seen what these protests will lead to, local mobile safety app Namola has announced that its Private Security Services will be free to all active users for the duration of today.

“In an effort to ensure the safety of South Africans, Namola will continue to operate throughout the shutdown and do its best to provide its users with immediate access to private emergency response services for those in need,” the company confirmed in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“Recognising the strain that the public sector is likely to face during the upcoming week, Namola is allowing all active users access to our network of Private Security emergency responders from Monday 20th to Tuesday 21st March 2023, regardless of which plan they are on,” it added.

For those unfamiliar with the app’s Plus plan, it provides users with access to a variety of private emergency services, including armed security response through its partnership with AURA, private ambulance services, fire emergency services, and more.

“With violence and damage expected during the national shutdown, we are concerned about the safety of all South Africans,” noted Pete Adolphs, CEO at Namola.

“We know that the public sector will be under-resourced and impacted as a result, and we want to make sure that everyone has access to the highest level of emergency services during this time,” he concluded.
