- Announced globally by Microsoft five months ago, the Surface Laptop 5 is now available in South Africa.

Earlier this week we reported on the Surface Pro 9 landing in South Africa and now a new product from Microsoft’s devices brand has arrived in the form of the Surface Laptop 5. This notebook was announced by Microsoft late last year, but has now been made available to purchase in South Africa.
The Surface Laptop 5 is the latest in this lineup, with Intel 12th Gen processors being made available in the locally launching models. Microsoft is also bringing the 13.5″ and 15″ touchscreen display options to South Africa.
This means that both i5 and i7 iterations are available in each of the sizes, with Microsoft also highlighting the lightweight design (1.27kg) and long-lasting battery life of these notebooks. Regarding the latter, up to 18 hours of battery life is touted based on the size of the model.
Added to this is support for Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, Dolby Vision and Atmos, and all other Intel Evo standards.
As for pricing, recommended prices for the different Laptop 5 models are as follows:

There is also a promotional offer for the Surface Laptop 5 between now and 31st March, with participating retailers bundling a Surface Arc Mouse (valued at R2 199).
Said retailers are Evetech, Hi Online, Incredible Connection, and Takealot.
