Samsung Galaxy A24 LTE South African price revealed

  • Samsung has launched the Galaxy A24 LTE in South Africa and revealed its recommended local pricing.
  • The device is a slight improvement over the Galaxy A22 which was released in 2021, and is about R1 000 more expensive.
  • For R4 999 you can get 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, 5 000mAh battery, and a three camera setup, headlined by a 50MP shooter.

A new Samsung smartphone has landed locally in the guise of the Galaxy A24 LTE. The South Korean tech giant has also announced specifications, as well as South African pricing and availability.

The Galaxy A24 LTE is an entry-tier device from Samsung, now ranking among other more-affordable entry-level offerings from Chinese smartphone makers like Huawei, HONOR, OPPO and others.

A similar offering from Samsung came as the Galaxy A22, which landed locally in 2021. This smartphone retailed for R3 999. The A22 featured massive battery life, a sizeable AMOLED screen and a 13MP front-facing camera.

Like the A22 before it, Samsung seems set on jam-packing the A24 LTE with hardware and features for those on a tighter budget. The company is highlighting the phone’s camera system, as well as battery life as bright spots for the device.

In terms of looks, the Galaxy A24 LTE sports a glossy plastic finish and prism pattern back cover with a polished camera deck. It features a no-camera-housing aesthetic, similar to that of the apex S series of devices.

The Galaxy A24 LTE comes in two colour options, namely black and light green (as in the above image).

Samsung Galaxy A24 LTE specifications

The Galaxy A24 LTE’s AMOLED display is an 6.5″ Full HD screen and it is an eye care-enabled display. Samsung says that the display’s low blue light emissions ensure that it is always clear even under bright sunlight.

In terms of camera setup, the A24 has a three-lens deal, including a 50MP main camera, a 5MP ultrawide lens and a 2MP macro lens. It also comes with a 13MP selfie cam as if straight from the A22 before it.

Like the A22, the A24 also comes with a 5 000mAh battery, which Samsung claims can keep your phone on for more than two days on a single charge. It also comes with a 25W fast charger, an improvement over the A22’s 15W capabilities.

Additionally, the Galaxy A24 LTE features 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage space. On the software side, the device is running Samsung’s latest One UI 5.1 shell for Android.

Pricing and availability

According to a press release from Samsung, the Galaxy A24 LTE has launched in South Africa as of 1st May 2023, so those interested can already pick it up nationwide at retail partners. The recommended price point is R4 999.

It seems for a R1 000 extra you can get more storage space, a slightly better camera setup and faster charging than the Galaxy A22.
