Huawei debuts Power-S business inverters, drops prices on Power-M

  • Huawei has made a new lineup of Power-S inverters available in South Africa, specifically aimed at businesses and enterprises.
  • These solutions are designed for farms, malls, hotels, restaurants, banks, offices, campuses, and factories, which have energy needs that range between 30-100KW.
  • Huawei also reduced the prices on its Power-M solutions for the home.

Last week Huawei Mobile South Africa held an event to unveil two new flagship phones in the form of the P60 Pro and foldable Mate X3. While the devices were the main attraction, Huawei also dedicated some time to highlight its power solutions, which now include a new Power-S line up of inverters designed for local businesses.

According to Huawei, these new solutions are suitable for commercial and industrial setups and are designed to provide a hybrid power supply. “Power-S can be used for farms, malls, hotels, restaurants, banks, offices, campuses, and factories, which have energy needs 30-100KW range,” the company explained in a press release shared with Hypertext.

“Power-S can support multiple energy sources including photovoltaic, diesel generators, and Grid. As a result, Power-S supports seamless power switchover within 10ms (milliseconds), resulting in an uninterrupted experience for critical loads, such as lighting, televisions, and networks,” it added.

The company also points out that this all-in-one solution and its components are housed within a single cabinet, meaning it can be installed within a single day and could help customers reduce installation time by 80 percent, as well as cabling time and commission time.

“Thanks to its modular design, customers can also flexibly expand the capacity of batteries and power modules to supports flexible sizing for every budget, which helps minimise the construction cost throughout the lifecycle. At the same time, in order to solve the problem of underutilisation of battery value caused by the mixed use of old and new batteries, Huawei’s battery hybrid technology ensures that each battery’s value is maximised,” continued Huawei.

While it did not disclose pricing for the new Power-S offering, Huawei is encouraging businesses interested in inverters to head to its Digital Power website.

On the residential side of things, Huawei also had an announcement for Power-M, with prices of different models decreasing. The new pricing is as follows:

  • Power-M 5kW+5kW – R69 999 (was R70 999),
  • Power-M 5kW+10kW – R109 999 (was R127 999),
  • Power-M 5kW+15kW – R149 999 (was R175 999).
