Carbon Black Xbox Series S 1TB goes up for pre-order

  • The Carbon Black Xbox Series S 1TB is arriving in South Africa on 15th September.
  • The Xbox website currently lists a price of R13 999 for the console but this is incorrect and the correct RRP is R8 599.
  • Those that pre-order will get four months of access to Game Pass for free.

Let today be a lesson in double checking and then triple checking before publishing information online.

During its Not E3 showcase, Microsoft announced that it would release a Carbon Black Xbox Series S. In addition to a new paint job, the console would get a 1TB SSD, a noticeable upgrade from the the 512GB in the base Series S.

Right now you can pick up an Xbox Series S for R7 495, but this new Xbox – which only features a darker colourway and a larger SSD – will retail for R13 999 according to the official website.

Local pricing of the Xbox Series S 1TB per the official website.

If that seems off to you, that’s because, well it is. That pricing is very wrong and we’re told by local distributors Prime Interactive that the recommended retail price of the Carbon Black Xbox Series S 1TB is R8 599. The disti has asked that the pricing be updated.

Thankfully retailers including Incredible and BT Games have the correct pricing listed and not Microsoft’s pricing which would put this Series S above the Series X in pricing.

Pre-orders placed before 14th September will receive four months of access to Game Pass Ultimate which is great value for money.

The Xbox Series S together with Game Pass is our winner when it comes to jumping into AAA gaming at an affordable price point. This 1TB iteration of the console is a great upgrade especially when games demand ever more megabytes be downloaded.

The Carbon Black Xbox Series S 1TB will be available from 15th September. Pre-orders can be placed at BT Games and Incredible at the links above or Game4U and Takealot.
