TEMPUR reveals ultimate Starfield gaming chair you cannot buy

  • TEMPUR has collaborated with Xbox to create an over the top gaming chair to mark the impending launch of Starfield.
  • The specialist mattress maker used the same proprietary material on the “Dream Chair” that it designed for NASA.
  • Unfortunately the Dream Chair is not available for purchase, but there are plenty of Starfield-branded hardware and peripherals.

In two weeks’ time the most important game for Microsoft launches in the form of Starfield. To mark the impending launch, a rather peculiar collaboration has surfaced, with specialist mattress maker TEMPUR designing an over the top gaming chair for the game called the Dream Chair.

Before you ask whether it is available to the general public to purchase, it is not.

Regardless, there are plenty of elements to appreciate here, such as the fact that TEMPUR utilised proprietary material it developed solely for NASA in the 1960s in the creation of this gaming chair.

The one-off creation also features the NASA-Punk style aesthetic that will be present in the Starfield game, which can also be seen in some peripherals that you can potentially purchase, such as the Limited Edition Xbox controller and Constellation Edition smartwatch.

While you will not be able to purchase this gaming chair, if you are indeed keen to check it out, there will be two places where you can do so, but there will be some travel involved.

The first is at Gamescom, currently underway in Cologne, Germany until 27th August. After that, the Dream Chair will be set up at the TEMPUR store in Westfield, Stratford in the UK.

“Built using TEMPUR’S very own NASA-recognised material, Gamescom attendees can take a seat and take flight through Starfield. ‘When one adventure ends, A dream begins’,” the company captioned an Instagram post featuring the same video as the one above.

With a lot riding on Starfield to do well for Microsoft on Xbox and PC as a 2023 AAA exclusive title, especially given the disaster that was Redfall and the travesty named Fallout 76, it will be interesting to see how this latest game fares once it’s in the wild come 6th September.
