iStore starts preparing for iPhone 15 with a locked-in trade-in offer

  • While local pricing and availability of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro series is yet to be announced, iStore is preparing for the launch.
  • iPhone owners can lock in a trade-in offer today and claim it before 31st December 2023.
  • Trade-in values will depend largely on the condition and age of your existing iPhone.

On Tuesday evening Apple showed off a buffet of new iTech including four new iPhones and the Apple Watch Series 9.

The new iPhone 15, iPhone 15 PlusiPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max arrive in the US next week on 22nd September. As for local availability, there has yet to be an announcement from the local purveyor of Apple goods, iStore. A press release from Apple reports 40 countries will have the new iPhones by next week and 21 more countries will get the new handsets the week after on 29th September.

While we wait for an official local release, iStore has announced a rather convenient way to prepare for the eventual launch of the smartphone in South Africa with a locked-in trade-in offer. Essentially, you can have your current iPhone evaluated and have that value locked in for when you want to upgrade your handset to the latest model.

The retailer is offering up to R15 000 for trade-ins when upgrading an MTN, Vodacom, or Telkom contract at an iStore. We should highlight that the amount you will receive is highly dependent on the condition and age of your existing smartphone.

You may also just want to consider trading in your device without upgrading your contract if you have a newer device. While iStore says it will give you up to R15 000, checking the trade-in value of an iPhone 14 Pro Max 1TB gave us a higher trade-in estimate than the aforementioned offer.

If that value holds up you could be paying very little to get the latest Apple smartphone with a USB Type-C port, better silicon, and improved camera technology.

Of course, how much you’d have to ultimately pay-in to receive your new iPhone depends on the local pricing. With that having been said, this is a nice way to plan your upgrade a bit better and save up if you have to.
