How to watch the new Apple iMac reveal event

  • Apple will host another livestreamed event on 31st October, this time with the tagline of “Scary Fast.”
  • The tech giant is expected to reveal its latest iMacs and MacBooks.
  • “Scary Fast” is probably both an allusion to Halloween and a hint at new processors from the company.

Over a month after launching the iPhone 15 range of smartphones at a livestreamed event, Apple is now gearing up to host another one, this time with expectations and a tease from the company pointing to new Mac PC technology.

Officially called “Apple Event,” the streamed presentation will begin on Halloween 31st October 2021 at 2:00 AM so only the most die-hard Apple fans in South Africa will probably be up to catch it.

It has the tagline “Scary fast” which goes with the Halloween theme of the event, with additional communication from the company telling viewers to “Treat yourself to a special Apple Event.”

Expect spooky puns and horror-themed jokes alongside new information about the latest, upcoming Apple personal computers.

You will be able to watch the event at the official Apple YouTube channel, here, where a countdown is currently taking place.

Otherwise a livestream will be up on the Apple website come 02:00 next week Tuesday.

According to Bloomberg, Apple is internally slated to unveil new iMac and Macbook Pro hardware at the end of the month, coinciding with the event.

“Apple retail stores are in short supply of the iMac, as well as the 13-inch MacBook Pro and high-end MacBook Pro — two other models that may be due for a refresh. If you try to order the products from Apple’s website, several configurations won’t arrive until mid-November. That several-week delay is a clear sign that something is about to happen,” writes Bloomberg’s Apple insider Mark Gurman.

If Gurman’s prediction holds up, which it seems likely to, then this will be the first time since 2021 that Apple has updated its iMac range with a new product.

The “Scary fast” tagline seems to be serving another hint, apart from allusions to pagan festivities, this time in line with new processors from Apple. The company has already revealed in-house silicon for its iPhone 15 range and it runs the M2 chips in its latest MacBooks.

However, the M2 chips are now two years old and are still the company’s leading PC processors, so perhaps it is time for an upgrade. Either in the guise of an improved M2 or perhaps the M3.

As for the MacBook, an improved 13″ version is anticipated to be revealed at the upcoming event, perhaps also sporting the latest processor from the company.
