Honor launches its first foldable in SA – the Magic V2

  • Honor has officially launched the Magic V2 foldable phone in South Africa, which is the first foldable it has brought to SA.
  • The Magic V2 includes flagship-level specifications such as 16GB RAM, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and pair of 50MP lenses as part of the camera array.
  • It is also one of the thinnest foldables on the market, weighing just 231g.

This evening Honor South Africa held a launch event for two new flagship phones – the Magic V2 and Magic6 Pro. The smartphone maker teased the impending release of the two devices last week, with the Magic V2 being its first foldable to officially launch in SA.

It now joins the likes of Samsung, Huawei, OPPO, and others in having a foldable model available locally.

So what sets the Magic V2 apart from other options on the market?

In terms of its design, it is just how thin and lightweight the device is. To that end it is 9.9mm when folded and 4.7mm when unfolded, along with only weighing 231g, which puts most regular bar-shaped smartphones to shame.

Other noteworthy elements include the new Titanium Hinge designed for the folding/unfolding mechanism which is SGS-certified in terms of its reliability.

Honor adds that the suspended water-drop support for the foldable display is both strong and flexible, seamless when folded, and creaseless when unfolded. Many other manufacturers have claimed the same, so we will need to see just how much of a crease there is when we get the chance to review the device.

The full specifications of this latest foldable are as follows:
