- Dial n Nerd has launched an IT support bot called Dan.
- It’s design is modelled on the same Nerdman logo, with Dan working as a chatbot for IT-related services and queries.
- The chatbot will also serve as an avenue for Dial a Nerd to make contact with customers in need of more specialised IT assistance.
Local provider of IT support solutions Dial a Nerd has announced a new offering in the form of its AI IT Support bot. Its name is Dan, and while that may seem like a rather bland name, it’s clearly a shortening of the Dial a Nerd brand.
Having checked it out, the new solution appears to be a chatbot of sorts, but the company is careful to describe it as a, “digital companion designed to revolutionise the IT support experience for clients.”
That is quite the tall task ahead of Dan, but it is viewed as representing a significant leap forward in the realm of IT support services.
This according to Melissa Viljoen, digital experience manager at Dial a Nerd, who explains that, “By bringing back our beloved Nerdman logo in the form of ‘Dan,’ we aim to combine nostalgia with cutting-edge technology, creating a familiar and friendly face for users seeking assistance with their IT needs.”
“Through ‘Dan’, we are not only providing technical support but also fostering a sense of connection and trust with our clients. As a company deeply rooted in community engagement and user empowerment, we believe that ‘Dan’ will serve as a valuable ally in navigating the ever-evolving landscape of technology,” added said Petrie van Zyl, managing executive at Dial a Nerd.
Along with handling queries and questions around IT, this new solution also appears to be an avenue where the company can get in contact with customers in need of more specialised assistance.
When we prompted Dan regarding the power supply of our laptop, he served up a few decent suggestions to troubleshoot it ourselves, and then suggested that we input contact details in order to be contacted by a human agent. This request can be ignored, however, and crucially is not a requirement in order to interact with the AI IT support bot.
“If your laptop is still not powering on despite being connected to a power source and the adapter being securely plugged, there could be a few possible reasons for this issue.First, let’s check if the battery is properly inserted. Try removing the battery from your laptop (if it’s removable) and then reinsert it securely. After that, try turning on your laptop again,” it replied to our query.
“If that doesn’t work, it’s possible that there could be an issue with the power button or the charging port. In this case, I recommend reaching out to our support desk at techsupport@dialanerd.co.za or calling 0861463737. They will be able to assist you further in diagnosing and resolving the issue,” it added.
