iKhokha launches new smart card machine for local SMEs

  • iKhokha has announced the launch of a new smart card machine that fits into your pocket called the iK Flyer Lite.
  • It is a complement to the flagship iK Flyer card machine that the company launched in 2022.
  • The iK Flyer Lite is available to purchase by South African SMEs and merchants for R999.

After announcing a recent partnership with TymeBank, local fintech player iKhokha has announced the launch of a new smart card machine that it has christened the iK Flyer Lite.

This latest smart card machine follows the launch of the company’s flagship iK Flyer machine, which launched in 2022, and reportedly far surpassed initial sales expectations according to iKhokha.

“iKhokha is bringing to the market a super smart card machine that is affordable, reliable, fits in your pocket, looks professional, settles money the next day, and can be used as soon as you buy it,” noted CEO and co-founder, Matt Putman.

“This is another step in our mission to help entrepreneurs and SMEs to believe in better business by enabling them to access the latest technology, as well as benefit from a host of additional support and business tools,” he added.

Available to purchase for R999 by local SMEs and small merchants, the company says this new device is aimed at small business owners who are looking for affordable mobile card machines to accept card payments anytime. It adds that the software powering the smart card machine runs on Android and does not need any Bluetooth pairing with a smartphone in order to operate, making it a complete standalone product.

“This offering also allows merchants to access iKhokha’s all-in-one suite of intuitive business tools, including a cash advance product, easy-to-use dashboard, sales reports and business insights. There are no monthly subscription or rental fees, payments to merchants are processed within as little as a day, and the device can be used as soon as it is purchased,” the company explained in a release shared with Hypertext.

“Customers who buy the iK Flyer Lite will also have dual sim connectivity which will ensure constant coverage, especially in outlying areas and during power outages. Merchants are also able to access system upgrades through the iKhokha app, with updated tools available at the push of a button,” it continued.
