A closer look at Hisense’s premium ULED TVs

The past 18 months have seen life as we know it change, along with our habits when it comes to technology. People are investing in better webcams, headsets and notebooks as they set up their work from home environment, and when it comes to entertainment we’re consuming more of it than ever before.

Where previous years saw your smartphone or tablet become your primary screen, the TV is resurgent as the main option when it comes to enjoying content at home. With that in mind, it is time to consider what your current TV setup is like and whether investing in a TV that is large, feature rich and most importantly, delivers great visuals at an affordable price.

On this front Chinese manufacturer Hisense is worth noting. The company has taken roots in SA in recent years, debuting a factory in Atlantis in the Western Cape and committing to offer great value for money products for cost savvy consumers.

Focusing in on its newer TV offerings, the refreshed lineup of large ULED TVs is worth a shout, with six models in particular getting special mention.

Below we look at all six models, their features, specifications and why you should ask for one of them when heading to your local retailer or shopping online.

Here we will be focusing on the 55″ to 65″ range, so these TVs are certainly designed to be front and centre of your living room and the entertainment hub of the home.

Jack of all trades

We start with the LEDN55U7WF and LEDN65U7WF, both of which are 4K Smart ULED models that offer up 55″ and 65″ of screen real estate respectively, along with a near bezel-less design to provide a more immersive viewing experience.

Other similarities include a wide colour gamut, 50+ local dimming zones and up to 60Hz MEMC (Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation). Added to this is support for Dolby Vision-Atmos and HDR10+ content, making it particularly well suited for those wanting to hook up a gaming console to play the latest titles.

As for the smart elements, the LEDN55U7WF and LEDN65U7WF are running the VIDAA Smart OS and offer access to platforms like Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, DStv Now and Showmax, meaning you did not need to connect a set top box in order to enjoy the latest content, both local and abroad. There’s also dual-band WiFi added to the mix to ensure that connectivity woes are not an issue while streaming.

The elite category

Next we’re looking at a pair of Hisense’s elite ULED models – the LEDN55U7QF and LEDN65U7QF. Like all the TVs listed here, they come in a 55″ and 65″ flavour and features across the two models are the same.

These variants feature 4K QD LED displays and boast smart features, with Smooth Motion 60Hz MEMC frame rates on offer. Added to this is Quantum Dot-powered visuals to ensure details are crisp and vivid, along with full array local dimming and a peak brightness of 700 nits. As with most of the newer ULEDs in Hisense’s lineup a bezel-less design is present, as well as support for Dolby Vision-Atmos content.

The same bouquet of streaming services mentioned earlier are available on these elite ULEDs, with the company’s Hi-View engine also handling the processing of visuals to ensure viewers are never left wanting.

All in one solution

The final two Hisense TVs we are highlighting here are the LEDN55U8QF and LEDN65U8QF. Like the other four TVs we have touched on previously, these ones come well appointed, but are distinguished from the rest by basting features like JBL Audio, which sees Harmon acoustic engineers fine tune the front facing speaker to deliver great audio alongside the visuals.

Speaking of which, 3840×2160 resolutions are present on the 55″ and 65″ options, with the Smooth Motion technology supporting up to 120Hz frame rates and Dolby Vision HDR. They serve up 1000 nits of peaking brightness and 100+ local dimming zones too as Hisense’s premium range of ULEDs.

These TVs are also identified by their thin, bezel-less design and floating glass display. If you are wanting something sleek and elegant to be a fixture in your home for years to come, these are the models that Hisense recommends.
