Epic Games Store starts Black Friday sale sans coupons

Until 30th November it’s Black Friday on the Epic Games Store, but the platform has decided to forgo the usual coupon system that accompanies sales – and special events – in the past.

Instead it’s just a standard percentage off affair with up to 75 percent claimed for certain titles which you can explore here. Well 75 percent off is the claim from Epic Games, but we saw a few titles with a higher discount than that.

Below is some games that caught our eye thanks to a decent amount being lobbed off:

  • Red Dead Redemption 2 – 50 percent off [Click here]
  • Borderlands 3 – 75 percent off [Click here]
  • Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition – 50 percent off [Click here]
  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition – 80 percent off [Click here]
  • Sonic Mania – 75 percent off [Click here]
  • Overcooked! 2 – 66 percent off [Click here]
  • Death Stranding – 70 percent off [Click here]
  • Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 [Click here]
  • Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – 63 percent off [Click here]
  • Destroy all Humans! – 67 percent off [Click here]

Those are our picks but you can, of course, browse around for more. The layout of the Black Friday on the Epic Games Store is a bit weird because only a few dozen show up on the main sales page. The rest of the deals can be viewed here but they are unorganised and you’re left to click through on your own.

Before making any purchases on the Epic Games Store we urge buyers to wait until later tonight or until tomorrow depending on your time zone. This is because the Steam Autumn Sale is due to kick off and you may be able to find games cheaper there, or at the same price allowing you to keep your library on one platform.

It’s also worth noting that, while the discounts on the Epic Games Store are decent right now, there’s better deals to be had. For example Control, one of our favourites from recent years, is 70 percent off bringing its price to R170.99. That’s a really good price for such a fantastic game, but it’s slashes all the way down to R6 elsewhere.
