The Crew-3 mission has finally arrived at the International Space Station

We may only be two weeks into November, but it has likely been an incredibly stressful two weeks at NASA as it tried to juggle the return of one mission and the launch of another.

Earlier this week on of those stresses was alleviated when the Crew-2 mission returned from the longest trip to the International Space Station yet.

Then, early on Thursday morning the Crew-3 Endurance mission finally launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. This mission’s launch was delayed by weather as well as what NASA described as a “minor medical issue“.

Now after a 22 hour journey, the astronauts aboard Crew-3 have arrived at the International Space Station. The astronauts onboard are Raja Chari, Tom Marshburn, Kayla Barron and the European Space Agency’s Matthias Maurer.

You can watch the docking of the Crew-3 vessel in this video.

The arrival of the Crew-3 mission boosts the number of people aboard the space station to seven. The four new astronauts join Mark Vande Hei, Anton Shkaplerov and Pyotr Dubrov. According to a report from Space, the astronaut and cosmonauts will help the new crew aboard the station but Vande Hei will handle orientation.

With this launch and arrival at the ISS out of the way, NASA will surely breath a bit more easily until the launch of the Crew-4 mission scheduled for April 2022.
