100+ items arrive days after Cookie Clicker gets Steam Workshop support

When the famous idle clicker game Cookie Clicker arrived on Steam back in September, one of the big promised features was the community getting involved by way of Steam Workshop. Now that is has arrived, it’s quickly becoming popular.

Steam Workshop support opened in the game over the weekend and, despite it being less than two days since that happened, the game has already cracked more than a hundred community-made items.

At the time of writing 109 items exist for the game and all of them can be found here.

The most popular item right now is called “pilk mod” which has the following description:

“Replaces zebra milk with pilk in the milk selector. Pilk is a nutritious beverage born of the union of milk and a carbonated soft drink. May you find repentance in your wiser days.”

For those wondering why something so random is the number one mod, well it’s because it was made by Orteil, the original developer of Cookie Clicker. The dev even asks players to avoid this saying on Twitter “please don’t actually download my Pilk example mod it’s awful”.

Outside of the work of Orteil the most popular mod is “CCSE” which is billed as modding framework for the game.

The most popular in-game mod, aside from pilk, is “Horticookie”, which provides extra information to players which is not given to them in the base game.

Some other favourites we found while looking through the Steam Workshop include “Minecraft Big Cookie“, a mod that replaces cookies with bread and “Casino“, which allows you to play Blackjack inside of the game with cookies as your betting currency.

Cookie Clicker has managed to stay popular after eight years and managed to be a Steam top seller when it launched on the platform. The influx of mods after Steam Workshop support opened up seems to mean that this game will remain popular into the future.
