htxt.africast – The Neil Young Spotify incident

The first month of 2022 is nearly over and there’s another episode of the africast here to meet it.

Before we get into the Spotify issue, let’s discuss some other news including the release today of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The latest entry in the franchise is a wild departure from the formula, but as we’ll discuss, it’s pretty damn good. The gameplay loop is solid and the vast changes are fun, which is offset by horrible visuals, performance, draw distance and other technical problems.

In something more serious a 2016 Falcon 9 rocket from SpaceX is projected to collide with the Moon this March. While there will likely be no loss of life or any serious consequences to this, it does show how little control there is with objects in space. Not to mention who is responsible for leaving so much junk floating around up there.

Back to reviews now and we have also covered the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection which has reminded us just how good Uncharted 4 is. With a movie on the way and the game coming to PC, it seems the PlayStation blockbuster franchise will keep on going.

Finally on to Spotify and Neil Young, who announced the removal of his work from the streaming platform in protest of Joe Rogan and the misinformation he is spreading about COVID-19 via his wildly popular podcast. The event has mostly been glossed over, but we theorise that if a bigger name artist had done this it may have caused a proper response from Spotify. Only time will tell how all of this shakes out.
