Loadshedding to be reduced to Stage 3 on Thursday evening

After what continues to be a frustrating week thanks to ongoing Stage 4 loadshedding, Eskom has announced that it will lower the stage on Thursday evening.

From 21:00 on Thursday evening, loadshedding Stage 3 will be in effect until 05:00 on Friday morning. On Friday morning Eskom will move to Stage 2 loadshedding which is expected to continue until 05:00 Monday morning.

“A generation unit each Matla, Medupi, Kusile and Camden power stations have returned to service while a unit each at Matla, Lethabo and Arnot power stations were taken offline for repairs during the same period,” Eskom said in a power alert.

“Two units are expected to return to service today while another five generation units are expected to be back in service by Monday afternoon,” the utility added.

Things are still looking grim on the generation side of things with 13 942MW unavailable due to breakdowns and 7 136MW unavailable thanks to planned maintenance.

As always, we advise checking out the Eskom loadshedding site and Eskomsepush on mobile to keep up to date with what times your area will be affected. Remember, if your power remains off for longer than scheduled there is likely a fault and it needs to be reported.

While there isn’t much of a difference between Stage 4 and Stage 3 loadshedding, we’ll take what we can get at the moment.
