Loot Chickens rule the roost in Fortnite Avian Ambush Week

The Loot Llama has become a mascot for Fortnite but, for the next week, Loot Chickens will be added to the mix.

This is part of the “Avian Ambush Week” which includes quests players can complete for extra XP as well as the aforementioned avians.

“In Avian Ambush Week, chickens are kings of the ecosystem. They’ve totally done away with sharks, wolves, frogs, and boars… and they’re coming after you next. Not only have they become more common, but they now fight back when attacked. Choosing peace with them instead? Hold one and it’ll peck at nearby opponents! You’ll also notice glowing chickens called Loot Chickens. Like crows (whom the chickens spared), these chickens carry loot!” the announcement reads.

Avian Ambush Week runs until 15th March as part of V19.40 of the game. Once this ends a new themed week will take over complete with even more quests to complete.

“Even after balance returns to the ecosystem, things won’t be quite the same. Many chickens will still fight back attackers, some Loot Chickens will stay behind, and you’ll still be able to hold fowls for offense!” Epic Games continues.

Without this turning into a feature about the history of chickens in videogames, the humble egg-laying bird has appeared in so many games and had an impact in them to the point where the concept of Loot Chickens isn’t even too surprising.

The Legend of Zelda series is likely the first thing people think of for chickens in their games but Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is where our most fond foul memories lie.

We’ll end here with a video from content creator 3kliksphilip taking a serious look at the impact of chickens in competitive CS:GO.
