With March on its last legs Valve has, as always, provided us lists of the top performers on Steam with two familiar names leading the charge.
We’ve covered the success of Elden Ring and Lost Ark in the pas,t but now Valve reiterates just how well these games have sold.
“It’s hard to overstate the success that Lost Ark and Elden Ring achieved on Steam in February. Both RPGs generated tremendous anticipation, and both delivered on expectations for the millions of players who jumped into these worlds on day one,” an announcement reads.
“Success for a Top Release is nothing new, but this is the first Top Release list where two games were able to come out of the gates to chart-topping audience size. Not only did both games see their player counts peak as the most played new releases of 2022, but they also secured the #2 and #6 largest player peaks of all time on Steam!”
Unfortunately Valve does not give specific numbers for sales as this is something that developers and publishers need to reveal on their own.
We know Elden Ring sold more than 12 million copies, though that update from FromSoftware and Bandai Namco was from earlier this month and it was likely sold much more since then. Also from earlier this month as a 20 million user number for Lost Ark.
On to those top selling lists and Valve has once again broken them down into categories. The three biggest ones are the top 20 paid games by money generated, free-to-play by player count and the top selling DLC.
