While the Steam Deck gets the spotlight desktop Steam is still updated

We’ve been hearing a lot about the Steam Deck lately as Valve released and has been working on improving its new handheld PC, but this doesn’t mean that the desktop version of Steam has been left behind.

The software client has had another small updated with the following patch notes:

General
  • Fixed missing or non-localized text in some dialogs
  • Fixed occasional crash when navigating to collections in the library
  • Fixed display of pending gifts in notification menu
Steam Input
  • Fixed PS4 controllers on macOS
  • Fixed Bluetooth Steam Controllers when Xbox Extended Feature Support is enabled
Remote Play
  • Fixed streaming from a Windows PC to a Mac
Linux
  • Fixed steamwebhelper crashes on certain installs

Mac users should be happy to see those fixed for controllers and streaming from Windows through Remote Play, though we did have to re-read which controller that is.

The latest DuelSense for the PlayStation 5 is officially supported through Steam but this fix is actually for the last generation of the hardware. We’re not sure why the PlayStation 4 controller needed the spotlight here but we have to guess that the older controller is more popular thanks to it being available for longer and / or a collection of users were all reporting the same issue.

On the Xbox side of things the Extended Feature Support mentioned in the notes is a collection of features made to enhance the use of Xbox controllers.

All in all this is a relatively small update to the client but, in the discussion on Steam itself, there are still some issues that people want addressed with mentions of Remote Play screen brightness, black screens, overlay problems and more all mentioned.

As always shouting into the void of the internet is usually not the best way to report an issue to a company, with the Steam Support page available here instead as a better bet.
