The next-gen version of The Witcher 3 delayed indefinitely

The word masterpiece is haphazardly thrown around when it comes to certain games, but in the case of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, it certainly holds true.

It is why we were pleased to hear that developer CD Projeckt Red announced the development of a next-generation console version of the game in late 2020.

Unfortunately, as with most schedules for game releases, the intended release of the next-gen version has been pushed back. This is the second time that the release has been pushed back, with it set to debut in Q2 2022.

Following an update tweet from official The Witcher account, that is no longer happening and exacerbating matters is the fact that no new timeframe has been mentioned.

While we are indeed disappointed to hear the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 has been delayed yet again, given some of CD Projeckt Red’s rushed work of late, namely on the initial release of Cyberpunk 2077, taking the time to fine tune elements and ensure everything looks and feels as it should, is definitely the safer option here.

This especially as the most recent update to Cyberpunk 2077 has improved quality of life by leaps and bounds.

Given that the Witcher gaming series and Wild Hunt hold a particularly special place for players, it is for the best that the next-gen version is as polished as possible.
