Get hit with nostalgia on the Street Fighter 35th anniversary website

Steel yourself against the harsh passing of time as a commemorative website for Street Fighter has been made live to celebrate 35 years of the franchise.

That website can be visited by clicking here taking you to the landing page featuring Ryu against a backdrop video of several screenshots and pieces of art from the three and a half decades of games.

“Since the debut of the original Street Fighter all the way back in 1987, countless players have played the games. Nowadays, the series has expanded beyond just the games, we’ve also released movies, merchandise, run eSports events, and done numerous collaborations to reach a wider audience. Seeing people from all kinds of backgrounds interacting with the series in its various forms has been a momentous driving force in keeping us going as we work towards its future,” reads part of the greetings message when visiting the site.

Clicking around the site and one of the main attractions is the comments section. While internet comment sections are usually the worst places on Earth, this one is special as commentators need to create “cards” for their comments which feature an image, a background about them and then the actual text they want to include.

Next to the comments are also illustrations and other contributions from Capcom staff, artists, voice actors, media professionals and more who have been involved with Street Fighter over the years.

We’re also suckers for a great timeline and there’s one here too which charts the release of the original arcade game on 30th August 1987 all the way up to the most recent release, the Capcom Fighting Collection published on 24th June 2022.

We’d like to end by again linking to the song Not on the Sidelines, which is the main theme for the upcoming Street Fighter 6 which will be released later this year. This song was the subject of some mystery as a snippet of it was used to reveal Street Fighter 6, but since then it has had a full release.
