Steam top sellers: Spider-Man has an upswing, Stray falls

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered finally launched on PC last week and its pre-order success has translated to even more release sales as it becomes the top selling game on Steam.

This is from unofficial tracking site Steam Database (SteamDB), which provides a weekly recap of the top performers on the platform organised by revenue generated.

Spider-Man is here not just in second, but third place too. This weird placement – as well as the fact that one of the listings appeared in third place last week – is due to the way Steam packages up its games. Multiple purchase options for a single game can appear as seperate entities on the list, resulting in these duplicates.

As for Stray, the popular sci-fi title where players can take control of a cat, it has fallen quite far. Since its release on 19th July it has managed to stay relatively close to the top of the list, but has now finished close to the bottom this week.

The Steam Deck on the other hand has continued its monumental success wit yet another week in the number one spot. As it’s hardware Spider-Man is the top selling game of the past seven days.

  1. Steam Deck | 1st last week
  2. Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered | 3rd last week
  3. Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered
  4. Cult of the Lamb Massive Monster
  5. Farthest Frontier
  6. Cult of the Lamb
  7. Two Point Campus
  8. Stray | 2nd last week
  9. Cyberpunk 2077
  10. Guilty Gear -Strive- Season Pass 2.

Looking over the list and the rest of the titles are ones we’ve seen before with the two newcomers being Cult of the Lamb and Farthest Frontier.

Cult of the Lamb had quite a bit of pre-launch fervour behind and, combined with publishing from Devolver Digital and strong reviews, it’s not too surprising to see it here.

Farthest Frontier is one we haven’t heard of until now, however. It launched on 9th August and bills itself as an Early Access city builder / survival sim.

“Protect and guide your people as you forge a town from untamed wilderness at the edge of the known world. Harvest raw materials, hunt, fish and farm to survive. Produce crafted items to trade, consume, equip and fight with as you battle for your survival against the elements and outside threats,” reads the game description.
