We will need to file this one under, who asked for this? With a PS5 console setting you back more than ever, provided you can find one to buy, now PlayStation has announced a new set of cosmetic plates from the Gray Camouflage collection.

This new collection expands on the Galaxy-inspired options that the company revealed for the PS5 console and DualSense controller last year, with this latest range adding an variant for the Pulse 3D Wireless Headset too.

While we have mixed feelings about camouflage colourways in general, namely as they do not do what the name implies, this grey option is a little muted than most. That said, it is quite a departure from the bright Galaxy covers that were released last year.

According to PlayStation, this collection is more “contemporary”.

“The PlayStation design team reimagined our camouflage pattern to reflect a fresher, more contemporary feel. If you look closely, you’ll notice that the iconic PlayStation Shapes have been subtly incorporated into the pattern,” a blog post points out.

“The Gray Camouflage Collection will be available starting this fall, with pre-orders beginning September 15. The DualSense wireless controller and PS5 console covers will launch globally on October 14, followed by the launch of the Pulse 3D wireless headset in December. The exact launch dates for the collection may vary by location,” it adds.

As such we are still awaiting confirmation from SA’s PlayStation distributor on the new collection to find out how much it will cost and when it will be available.

That said, we do have to wonder if there is actually any interest in this new collection. Hopefully more options are also in the works, once the supply chain issue is sorted by Sony.
