This week HBO is celebrating 50 years and while it is looking back at some of the landmark content it has aired to date, it is also looking forward to upcoming projects like The Last of Us series heading to HBO Max.

To that end a new teaser trailer has been released to offer some respite until the series makes its debut in 2023. Sadly we do not have a more definitive time frame or date for its release, but that has likely been done to give producers a bit more leeway in terms of adding any final spit and polish work to the series.

The teaser trailer, which has been embedded below, also gives a look at a Clicker from the series near the 1:15 mark. Before that we also see its silhouette and hear its unmistakable clicking sound as Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) hide from sight in a darkened warehouse of some kind.

We also get to see a few more characters, such as Anna Torv who will be playing Tess, along with Melanie Lynskey as an entirely new character called Kathleen, who leads a revolutionary group in Kansas City.

Whether she has any ties to the Fireflies, which were a militia group that sparked the viral cordyceps infection from the game, is unclear.

That said, it looks like the teaser mirrors several elements from the original game, such as the opening sequence where Joel is trying to flee the city with his daughter as explosions go off all around them.

Hopefully then, this series will stick closely to the source material, given how beloved the original game is. Having recently reviewed the PS5 remake, it is a story that is rich for mining.
