Vampire Survivors 1.0: More content, languages and new game engine

  • Vampire Survivors leaves Early Access on 20th October 2022.
  • The game has been a runaway success in a unique genre.
  • The 1.0 release will usher in many changes, but the new game engine is coming later.

Vampire Survivors has been the biggest indie success of recent years and the momentum around the game is seemingly continuing as it prepares to leave Early Access in October.

Come 20th October the game will release into its launch version 1.0 bringing with it a slew of additions.

The new additions to the game are a surprise, according to the announcement, as all previous promised content has already been released in other Early Access patches. This should mean that those who played the game in the past and exhausted the content should have a load of fresh features to enjoy should they return for the 1.0.

On top of these surprises for 1.0, there’s also the promise that support for the game will not end just yet, even though the game is feature complete. Vampire Survivors popularised this unique blend of roguelike / auto combat game, so it will be interesting to see what happens next.

“With 1.0 the game will officially support the following languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Turkish, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Korean, and Japanese! You’ll still be able to use custom language patches of course, but we won’t be able to use fan-translations once the game is in 1.0,” the announcement reads.

Those who have helped with previous localisation will have their names in the credits even if their work has been replaced and developer poncle thanks these users for their help.

While included in the reveal of the 1.0 launch, the new game engine that Vampire Survivors is being ported to will not be introduced on 20th October. This is being planned for the end of the year and it hopes to fix numerous issues such as better hardware compatibility, input issues, remapping problems, cloud save conflicts, hyperthreading, Linux support and more.

Lastly, there’s an “advent calendar” leading up to the release of 1.0. Between 7th and 20th October new reveals about the launch version will be revealed on social media.
