Bring cinema home with an LG QNED

Over the last few years the prospect of going to the cinema has become a daunting one considering public health and safety, the rising costs of tickets, the ever expensive movie snacks and other nuisances that have been around forever, like those irresponsible moviegoers who always seem to bring screaming children into adult-rated movies.

On the other side of the screen there’s been more reason than ever before to stay at home to enjoy your content, with many considering this the golden age of streaming, premiere TV and an endless font of new content from independent creators.

The last in this trifecta of advancements of better at-home enjoyment is the companies creating the screens you watch content on, with one of them being LG and its latest innovations in the world of displays in the form of QNED.

Let’s start with the big question everyone has when discussing home cinemas… just how big are we talking? LG QNED displays come in many shapes and sizes to fit your needs, space and budget, but the biggest screen in the range is a truly monstrous 86 inches. While inches are the de facto unit for screen sizes let’s turn that into something Metric, with 86 inches converting to almost 2.2 metres.

Remember that it’s 2.2 metres from corner to corner, so you’re going to have to set aside quite a lot of space no matter where your new TV goes.

But size isn’t everything and that’s where the killer feature of LG QNED displays comes into play. QNED stands for quantum dot nanorod emitting diodes and it’s LG’s ultimate display of miniaturisation. LG has shrunken the LED down as small as possible to pack more of them into every inch of screen. The result is unparalleled image quality, colour, blacks and fidelity that works hand in hand with those huge sizes.

Anyone who has had some close up time with similarly large screens will notice that, even at higher resolutions, a lot of quality is lost when images are blown up to that scale. By cramming QNED displays with so many LEDs, 4K and 8K content remains crisp and perfect even as the TV size goes up.

With size and quality accounted for LG has also crammed the QNED displays with clever features to enhance the experience further. Dolby, a venerable name in the world of movies, has lent several key pieces of tech to QNED TVs with Dolby Vision IQ and Dolby Atmos are both included on certain models.

While you’ve likely heard of Dolby Atmos and its spatial audio magic, Dolby Vision IQ is seen less. Dolby Vision IQ is a dynamic system designed to increase picture quality based on the space around your TV.

This means that, if your display is in an area that isn’t conducive to a great picture – such as under harsh lighting – the display can change dynamically to adapt to the situation, maintaining that quality.

This is just some of the features inside of LG QNED displays that make them the perfect at-home cinemas, and you can discover more for yourself by picking one up today.
