Give your PC or console the perfect teammate in an LG QNED display

We’re finally at the end of 2022 which means many of us have some extra free time to get through that backlog of games or reassess our gaming setup for the new year.

Regardless of what platform you play on, a great display is a must and it is one of the easiest changes you can make to instantly improve your experience. This ease of upgrade comes with the slight downside of the actual shopping experience: with so many options on the market, it can be difficult to choose.

Display giant LG is here to make this decision a bit easier with its QNED lineup of displays that make use of quantum dot nanorod emitting diodes. As you may have guessed by the name these LEDs are much smaller than on other screens allowing for more of them to be packed into the same space. This unlocks clearer visuals, brighter colours, deeper blacks and more that need to be seen to be believed.

In this pursuit of stunning visuals, LG has not forgotten about gamers with several features built into QNED displays that make them perfect for this application.

Certain QNED displays boast support for Dolby Vision HDR at 4K and 120Hz. Just a few years ago the support for such a high resolution and a high framerate was rare and expensive, but now it can be enjoyed by all while still fitting into your budget.

There are more familiar gaming features here such as AMD FreeSync Premium or Variable Refresh Rate (VRR). Those who stick to the high-end PC display at their desk for variable refresh rate tech can now enjoy it on the couch too, bringing that elevated gaming experience to other parts of the house.

LG QNED displays are available in both 4K and 8K and some may find this latter option overkill as this resolution is still not the standard in gaming as even some newer titles lack full support. With that in mind there’s still a lot to be said about buying a display with a resolution above what you play at, such as 4K, and then using the higher 8K resolution to enjoy movies, shows and other non-game content.

The same can be said for buying a 4K display while still playing in good old 1080p. These kinds of purchases also have the benefit of giving you further flexibility when it comes to the types of games you play, and what resolution and refresh rate combo you’re looking for.

Those who like esport titles will love the ability to switch to a lower resolution for a higher framerate, and then switch back to the higher resolution to enjoy more cinematic, singleplayer games.

This support for multiple different types of games extends to the Game Optimizer, dedicated and easy-to-navigate menus which allow for custom tuning as you see fit. This extra layer of customisation means you can tweak to your heart’s content.

Thankfully LG has you covered on all fronts with a QNED that matches your needs, and you can buy them in South Africa right now!
