Don’t settle for smaller, low resolution digital signage displays

Digital signage is still a relatively undiscussed portion of the display world where it has, unfortunately, garnered a bit of a bad reputation. This is not because of the idea of digital signage, but because of poor implementation.

We all know that small business down the road that uses an old and tiny 720p TV as a digital sign, or the chain restaurant displaying menus that are hardly recognisable due to burn in or, worst of all, dead digital displays that litter walls and desks because the proprietor simply bought a regular displays not suited for signage.

Hisense understands this all too well which is why, over the last few years, it has made massive strides towards perfecting the very idea of digital signage. All of this work has culminated in the latest G Series of displays which were not only crafted for this specific application, but to also implement the customer feedback and requests from previous generations of displays. This means that the G Series is not only the best from the Hisense lineage, but the best for digital displays overall.

How has Hisense achieved this? Well it all starts with size and the G Series comes in several options. 50, 55 and 65 inch variants are all available to suit your unique application and budget. While bigger is better when it comes to displays, the smaller options are just right to fit those spaces that can’t accept the larger options. The mix of sizes also means more customisation options when it comes to combining the displays for a wall of signage.

That being said, even the smallest 50 inch variant is an impressive amount of display real estate. As South Africa isn’t a region where we use inches let’s instead convert that to metric, which is 1.27 metres. For a display that’s massive and you can already start to envision just how much can be crammed into 1.27 metres on the low end. 55 inches is 1.397 metres and 65 inches is truly huge at 1.651 metres.

Another mistake some digital signage buyers make is investing in size and disregarding the resolution. This can lead to a rather ugly display as the content is stretched too far and comes off as blurry and pixelated. The G Series range comes with a 4K resolution of 3840 X 2160 as standard. That’s right: this isn’t locked to the biggest and most expensive display, but is instead the de facto resolution when you buy a G Series. It wasn’t too long ago when 4K was still locked to the highest end TVs as a real luxury with little content to play at that resolution, but now you can harness all of those pixels in your signage.

Hisense has, once again, been very smart by not just offering big sizes and high resolutions. G Series displays also come packed with features to run as long as possible and remain in operation to suit your business hours. G Series displays come with a typical lifetime of 50 000 hours of use and operational hours of seven days a week, 18 hours per day, so you can rest easy and avoid the ugly site of a dead screen.
