PlayStation launches Black Friday sale – save up to 80% on AAA games

  • Sony has launched 15-pages worth of Black Friday deals across its digital PS4 and PS5 catalogue.
  • Select AAA titles like Assassin’s Creed are up to 75 percent off, with virtually no game being less than 50 percent off.
  • Alongside game deals, Sony has launched specials on its 12-month subscriptions for PlayStation Plus.

Gamers on PlayStation rejoice! Sony has launched its Black Friday video game sale across its markets and some of the deals are noteworthy for digital editions of both PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PlayStation 5 (PS5) games.

Black Friday in South Africa officially begins on 25th November and many companies are looking to charm consumers with deals, from Xiaomi, and FNB to Game and much more. The consumer craze is heating up and digital gaming is not being left behind.

Now, Sony is offering discounts of up to 75 percent on select AAA titles, like The Last of Us Part II on PS4 which is available for R179.75. The game currently sits at a 93 percent approval rating on Metacritic.

If you’re a fan of gratuitous, fast-paced violent gameplay and horror themes then you should give Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic masterwork a go.

Red Dead Redemption II has also been reduced from R999 to R329.67 on PS4. Another AAA masterclass this time from Rockstar. We said that the game was “nearly perfect” in our own review. For just over R300, now is definitely the time to buy the hyper-immersive cowboy RPG if you were waiting for a sale.

God of War (2018) is available for R179.50 as part of the sale on PS4, so players who have not picked up the God of War Ragnarök prequel will have a chance to play through Kratos and Atreus’ first story together.

The Assassin Creed: Origins Deluxe Edition on PS4 has been reduced by 75 percent from R1 159 to R289.75. In terms of PS5 games, Grand Theft Auto 5 is 50 percent off and down to R359.50.

Borderlands 3 is 80 percent off for PS5 down to R200, which is a huge value for money for a game that takes around 75 hours for completionists to beat.

We could keep going, but there are so many deals and virtually none are below 50 percent. Alongside deals on games, Sony has also launched price reductions on its PlayStation Plus subscriptions.

Earlier this week it was revealed that Sony would launch deals on its subscription service, and it is notable that many of the games on sale now will be available for free for PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers. PS Plus Extra is available now from R929.25.

However, only the 12-month plans are on special as part of Black Friday.
