• New leaked details reveal the first possible look at the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A54 5G smartphone.
• The device is set to be the successor to Samsung’s hugely popular Galaxy A53 5G and could come with an updated design similar to newer S series devices.
• Leaks also indicate that the A54 could come with a 5 000mAh battery and a 50MP main camera.

We’re getting some hints at what the upcoming Samsung mid-ranger, the Galaxy A54 5G, will look like thanks to recent leaks by noted tech leaker Steven Hemmerstoffer AKA @OnLeaks.

While leaks are always to be taken with a grain of salt, Hemmerstoffer is usually on the money with the information he divulges. This time he partnered with India’s 91Mobiles for the leak.

The A54 is expected to launch in early 2023 and will be the successor to Samsung’s popular A53 smartphone.

Compared to the A53, the Galaxy A54 comes with a redesigned camera setup, a similar aesthetic that looks to be included with the company’s upcoming premium smartphone the Galaxy S23 Plus.

The A54 looks to have three separate camera cutouts instead the single large housing for the cameras that the previous iteration had. It has a centre-positioned punchhole camera cutout for selfies. The volume and power buttons are on the right edge of the device.

An LED flashlight is positioned beside the back cameras. According to the leak, the smartphone will have a 6.4-inch display with a possible 120Hz refresh rate, similar to the A53.

In terms of size, it could possibly measure 158.3×76.7×8.2mm.

A previous leak indicates that the mid-ranger could ship with a 4 905mAh battery, which would be marketed as a 5 000mAh unit. It could have an Exynos 7 904 processor with 6GB of RAM and 12GB of storage space. However, these details are yet unconfirmed.

Camera-wise, the Galaxy A54 5G could be set up with a 50MP main camera, alongside 12MP and 5MP sub-cameras. A 32 MP selfie camera is also expected.

Earlier this year we reviewed the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G and we were more than pleased with the device which gives great value for money with its mid-range specifications. In South Africa, the A53 launched with a recommended price of R8 495. Expect the A54 to launch with a similar price point.
