• One such trailer was for the upcoming Phantom Liberty DLC of Cyberpunk 2077. 
• In it we get to see Idris Elba as Solomon Reed, an FIA agent, who will feature heavily in the spy thriller DLC.

The Game Awards 2022 wrapped up last night, with Elden Ring, God of War Ragnarok and an alto flautist the big winners on the night. As is recent tradition with the Game Awards, trailers for upcoming releases or newly announced titles were also showcased on the evening.

One such trailer was for the Phantom Liberty DLC of Cyberpunk 2077 and the appearance of one Idris Elba.

That’s right, the British actor is lending his talents to the world of Cyberpunk as Solomon Reed, an FIA agent who players will be partnering up with during the course of the DLC.

With little known about the DLC, it looks like it will be taking a different approach to the mainline game, with a spy thriller feel to the gameplay and storyline.

The DLC is also set in a new district of Night City, although how expansive and ripe for exploration it is, remains to be seen.

As for a release date, the DLC featuring Idris Elba is earmarked for release sometime in 2023 and no definitive date or timeline mentioned. Given the failure to launch of the original game in 2020, perhaps it is best to give CD Projeckt RED as much time in the oven that it needs for Phantom Liberty.

With the game seeing a resurgence on the back of the success of the Edgerunners anime series on Netflix, it will be interesting to see whether people are willing to gamble on a DLC for this title too.

Either way, the addition of Idris Elba and the return of Keanu Reeves can’t hurt.
