Netflix adds two games to library, with more coming early next year

  • By all accounts, the choice to add games to the mix by Netflix has proved a success.
  • With Into the Breach in particular proving a popular title that is part of the current library of games.
  • This week Netflix has added two more titles, specifically to play on mobile devices, with a couple more earmarked for Q1 of 2023.

The foray into gaming by Netflix has proved a successful one, with the addition of titles like Into the Breach helping to bring more people to the streaming platform. With the company also planning to develop its own original game, Netflix has not stopped adding titles as two have been announced this week.

These are Twelve Minutes and Kentucky Route Zero, both of which come via Annapurna Interactive, and are available on either iOS or Android mobile devices to play for anyone with a Netflix account.

“You’re stuck in a 12-minute time loop, doomed to relive the same terror again and again… The only way to break free? Gather clues from your surroundings in real time and use your knowledge of what’s coming to change the outcome,” reads a blurb explaining the premise behind Twelve Minutes.

“Featuring a striking visual style that draws from theater, film, experimental electronic art and the history of video games, players will journey down a secret underground highway to find community in this mystical adventure game,” adds a description about this BAFTA-winning game.

The two above join Too Hot to Handle: Love Is a Game, Scriptic: Crime Stories and Solitaire as playing on the streaming platform.

“While this is only the beginning, we’re excited to continue bringing more games to our members in the years to come — from our amazing developer partners and our six internal game studios — to offer something for everyone,” noted Netflix in a blog post.

To that end, it confirms that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, and Vikings: Valhalla are set to arrive some time in Q1 of next year. As such, there is something to look forward to in the new year should the above not catch your fancy.
