Huawei’s latest notebook, the MateBook X Pro, is slated for SA

  • The 2023 iteration of the MateBook X Pro is one of several flagship devices that Huawei has earmarked for South Africa.
  • The notebook is set to debut locally in July, but no recommended retail price has been shared.
  • It features a Pearl White aluminium unibody, 14.2″ FullView display, and 13th Gen Intel Core processor.

This evening Huawei debuted a full lineup of flagship devices that it is readying for release in South Africa. Two are already up for pre-order, with the P60 Pro and Mate X3, but there are more on the way in the coming months.

To that end Huawei has confirmed that the 2023 iteration of its flagship notebook, the MateBook X Pro, is expected in SA in July. At the time of writing, no specific date has been mentioned, with the same going for a recommended price tag.

While we await those details, we can still run through what’s on offer on this Windows 11-powered device.

Starting with the display, it’s a 14.2″ FullView variant that serves up a 3120×2080 resolution and up to 90Hz refresh rate. Added to this is a 92.5 percent screen-to-body ratio and support of the P3 colour gamut. It’s also worth mentioning that this notebook supports touch functionality.

Internally the 2023 MateBook X Pro sports a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-1360P processor, Iris Xe graphics, up to 32GB RAM, and up to a 2TB NVMe PCIe SSD. Other elements include two USB Type-C ports, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

All of this is encased in an aluminium unibody in Pearl White that brings the overall wight to 1.26kg. Huawei describes this chassis as a “skin-soothing metallic body”, with it utilising a micro-arc oxidation that makes it durable and corrosion-resistant.

It remains to be seen how much the MateBook X Pro will cost when it lands in July, but it’s clear that Huawei is still prioritising notebooks for local fans of the brand.
