OPPO launches Reno10 series in South Africa

  • OPPO South Africa has revealed its latest flagship phones for the country in the form of the Reno10 series.
  • The series includes the Reno10 and Reno10 Pro+, which will both be available to purchase in August and early July respectively.
  • Both devices support 5G, feature SUPERVOOC fast charging, and an impressive camera setup.

At an event held in Johannesburg this evening, OPPO South Africa officially unveiled the latest devices set to land in the country – the Reno10 series.

This series comprises two devices in particular for SA, with the Reno10 and Reno10 Pro+ both earmarked for local availability in August and early July respectively. In terms of pricing, OPPO South Africa has revealed recommended price tags of R699 per month on 24-month contracts for the Reno10 and R899 per month for the higher specced Pro+.

So what are you getting for that price?

Well the designs for each model in the series are the same, with a curved edge display and new rear camera housing compared to the Reno8 that OPPO launched last year. Focusing in on the display, both models have large ones at 6.7″ on the regular 10 and 6.74″ on the Pro+.

On the rear a trio of lenses in present, but each model is boasting different megapixels. For the standard 10, a 64MP wide-angle, 32MP telephoto, and 8MP ultra wide-angle are present, while the Pro+ features a 50MP wide-angle, 64MP telephoto, and a 8MP ultra wide-angle option.

Shifting to the internals and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB onboard storage, and 4 600mAh battery are found on the Reno10, while the Pro+ sports a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, 16GB RAM, 256GB storage, and 4 700mAh battery.

As such, the latter is comparable to most top-tier Android flagship phones on the market.

With these new phones likely leading the charge for OPPO South Africa as we head into the second half of 2023, it will be interesting to see how they stake up against other Android flagship phones that we will see in the coming months.
