Zuck vs Musk fight becomes a war of words

  • On Friday Elon Musk announced details of his fight with Mark Zuckerberg, only for Zuckerberg to state that Musk hasn’t shared any details with him.
  • Instead Zuckerberg told Musk to train and let him know when the X owner was ready to fight properly.
  • Instead of taking this advice, Musk has decided to mock Zuckerberg online.

Rather than earnestly trying to make Twitter profitable, Elon Musk seems obsessed with convincing Meta chief executive officer Mark Zuckerberg to fight him in a publicity stunt.

Back in June Musk said he’d be up for a cage match with Zuckerberg if the Meta CEO was. Seemingly eager for the fight, Zuckerberg responded with “Send Me Location”. Since then not much has happened aside from talk and a few photos with sweaty middle-aged nerds looking out of place amongst the finely chiselled abs of their trainers.

At the weekend however, there seemed to be some action.

“The fight will be managed by my and Zuck’s foundations (not UFC). Livestream will be on this platform and Meta. Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all. I spoke to the PM of Italy and Minister of Culture. They have agreed on an epic location,” Musk posted to Twitter, the platform he’s trying to change to X.

“Everything done will pay respect to the past and present of Italy,” Musk added before tacking on that proceeds from the fight would go to veterans and paediatric hospitals in Italy.

It’s all just, weird. Italy is an absurd choice to host a fight like this and the talk of donations to veterans and paediatric hospitals in Italy is doubly as strange.

However, it doesn’t seem as if Musk shared this news with his would-be rival and Musk was simply riffing on X.

“I love this sport and I’ve been ready to fight since the day Elon challenged me. If he ever agrees on an actual date, you’ll hear it from me. Until then, please assume anything he says has not been agreed on,” Zuckerberg posted to Threads.

“Not holding my breath for Elon, but I’ll share details on my next fight when I’m ready. When I compete, I want to do it in a way that puts a spotlight on the elite athletes at the top of the game. You do that by working with professional orgs like the UFC or ONE to pull this off well and create a great card.”

But it didn’t end there. Musk then reportedly slid into Zuck’s DMs and asked if he wanted to do a practice bout at Zuckerberg’s place next week.

The Meta CEO rightfully said no to that suggestion.

“If you still want to do a real MMA fight then you should train on your own and let me know when you’re ready to compete. I don’t want to keep hyping something that will never happen, so you should either decide you’re going to do this and do it soon, or we should move on,” Zuckerberg told Musk.

The X owner seemingly ignored this advice from Zuckerberg to train up and instead said the pair should fight in Zuck’s octagon. The Meta CEO didn’t respond.

By his own admission Musk hasn’t practiced much and that is clearly a problem for Zuckerberg. We say this because this isn’t a meme for the Meta CEO, he enjoys fighting as a sport. The billionaire won a gold and silver medal at a jiu-jitsu tournament in May which is quite the accomplishment.

An untrained fighter facing a trained, tournament-winning fighter then is just a bad idea. Should Musk insist that the billionaire nerds fight, we’d wager he’d sustain several injuries at best and his ego will surely be bruised by the meat-smoking CEO. Hell, even YouTubers who participate in boxing matches go through more training than Musk has reportedly been through.

Rather than recognising this however, Musk took the same direction his yes-men and sycophants took, mocking Zuckerberg.

We aren’t sure how Zuckerberg is going to respond to this and if we’re honest, we don’t think he will. It’s become increasingly clear that Musk isn’t serious about this fight and our Luis Monzon’s prediction may just hold water – the billionaire nerds are never going to fight.
