• South African-made STASIS: Bone Totem is heading to current-gen consoles like Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.

STASIS Bone Totem, a game from South African developers The Brotherhood Games, based in Cape Town, will now be heading to console via Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 after being scooped up by publisher Feardemic.

To our knowledge, it is the first videogame developed by a South African-based studio to be heading to these current-gen consoles. It is also likely the independent South African game with the widest-ranging and largest playerbase ever.

The game was made by a small studio led by two brothers and quickly gained popularity on PC among horror game fans. It currently features a highly positive community rating on Steam.

A sequel to a previous horror game, Bone Totem is an isometric horror-themed point and click puzzle game with influence from RPG classics like Planescape: Torment. The game even features music from the original composer of Planescape J. Barton Mitchell.

The game is also localised in several regions, including languages English, German, French, Russian, Polish, Spanish, Turkish, and Italian. The studio involved American-based Night Rocket Productions for professional voice and character acting.

The game will be available on console on 28th March 2024, just shy of its first anniversary date.

As for the storyline, the player will “Follow Mac and Charlie, a husband and wife duo, who make their living scouring the ocean for salvage as they stumble upon an abandoned oil rig in the Pacific Ocean. Help them and their trusty Super-Toy, Moses uncover a horrific secret that Cayne Corporation will do anything to keep hidden.”
