This morning’s Mail & Guardian is carrying an interesting report for all those who are concerned about nepotism in government. It’s discovered that Jacob Zuma’s 25-year-old daughter, Thuthukile Zuma, has been appointed to the R1m-a-year job as chief of staff in the newly created department of telecommunications and postal services.
The position makes her one of the most senior officials in the department. From the article:
The M&G says that the post was never advertised.
Not that concerns about the new department of telecommunications and postal services being a mechanism to create jobs for Zuma allies. It’s head, Zuma loyalist Siyabonga Cwele, was previously minister of state security where he was best known for involvement in the so-called secrecy bill and his wife’s conviction for drug dealing.
