htxt.africast – Our thoughts on the new Venom and Dune

This week’s edition of the africast is sponsored by POCO.

With South Africa, and much of the world, returning to theatres we’ve done the same taking in Venom: Let There Be Carnage as well as the latest movie attempt at Dune. We discuss this and more in the latest edition of the africast.

Starting with some smaller items this week and we’ve also been playing Metroid Dread. This latest entry in the venerable franchise has a lot to offer but we’ve found it to be too same-y to both previous incarnations as well as many other games it has directly inspired in the Metroidvania genre.

Next up is the University of Cape Town (UCT) which is set to launch an online high school in 2022. The university is now looking for employees to fill the ranks of this new school but is doing so rather close to the start of next year.

Then there’s Thingiverse, a titan in the maker space as the go to place for finding and sharing files for 3D printing. The platform has suffered a security breach with conflicting information about its severity and contents. As we wait for more information we again recommend keeping your passwords safe by resetting them if you use the site.

Finally on to movies now with the Venom sequel and Dune  both launching this month in South Africa.

The pair have nothing in common other than the fact that we saw them both recently and can share our thoughts. Without spoiling too much of the africast – and our written reviews available in the list below – Venom was just as dumb as the 2018 movie and Dune had us flawed with visuals and sound but fell down when it came to story and pacing.
