Regardless of your time zone Elden Ring is finally out and on Steam it’s drawing in three quarters of a million players.
This comes to us now from any third party, but from Valve itself. The official game and player statistics page provides us the both the peak number of players in the past 24 hours and the current number of players in the game right now.
Below you can find these players numbers not just for Elden Ring at number one, but also for the complete top ten list on Steam right now.
Game | Current players | Peak today |
ELDEN RING | 645 069 | 764 835 |
Lost Ark | 478 866 | 915 628 |
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive | 428 765 | 840 791 |
Dota 2 | 300 235 | 680 600 |
PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS | 225 239 | 469 031 |
Apex Legends | 181 054 | 334 045 |
Destiny 2 | 136 071 | 181 870 |
NARAKA: BLADEPOINT | 76 016 | 143 963 |
Team Fortress 2 | 74 449 | 84 296 |
Grand Theft Auto V | 68 217 | 117 232 |
Interestingly, while Elden Ring is at the top for the current number of players (which Steam seems to be basing the order of the list on), it’s not at the top for the peak players.
Going by the peak number, Lost Ark is actually much higher. This isn’t too surprising as the game has been selling so well, but to beat out a new game by FromSoftware is impressive.
It’s important to remember that Elden Ring launched late on Thursday, or early this morning depending on where you live. This means that people wanting to play as soon as possible probably stayed up to late hours potentially only getting a few hours of sleep (or none at all).
We highly suspect that, as the work / school week ends later this Friday, those Elden Ring numbers will shoot up and continue to go up as the weekend gets going.
And, finally, this is just the numbers from Steam. Elden Ring is sold on PC game online stores, and on console (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5).
Unfortunately for those on PC, performance is not great. Hopefully we see some post launch patches very soon to get things stable.
