PlayStation serves up 30 minute deep dive on Gran Turismo 7 in latest State of Play

Last night Sony held one of its State of Play events, showcasing what new titles are on the way for the PlayStation ecosystem. This particular State of Play was notable as the company carved out 30 minutes to provide a deep dive (available in 4K) for Gran Turismo 7 (GT7).

The iconic racing simulator franchise is set to launch its latest iteration on the PS5 and PS4 consoles come 4th March, and the video pasted below, served up almost everything you need to know about the different modes, tracks, features and realism that Gran Turismo 7 touts.

Examples of what will feature include a Music Rally the first time you boot up the game, which will see you get behind the wheel of a Porsche Speedster and fine tune your driving settings while trying to reach checkpoints on a track and listening to music set to match the tempo of the race, as well as getting a general feel for the gameplay.

Another change is to the in-game car purchasing, with a World Map and Garage facilitating that first car you buy for GT7. There is also a new Cafe, which is designed to showcase different in-game objectives and missions depending on what cars you have and how far you’ve progressed.

There is still the usual customisation area where you can kit out your car with new parts and accessories, provided you have the in-game money, as well as the ability to edit the livery of the vehicle, which will cost you GT7 currency too.

As far as the racing simulation elements, developers Polyphony say the photo-realism for cars, both exterior and interior, and tracks alike is unmatched, but we will need some hands-on time with the game to vouch for the claim.

Looking at the trailer below, all elements do look impressive, so racing sim enthusiasts should be catered for.

If you have the bandwidth, hardware and time, we suggest watching the 30 minute video below in 4K to get a feel for what Gran Turismo 7 will serve up.
