June has started out disastrously for South Africa as the latest petrol price increase punishes an already straining populace, which we’ll look at in this episode of the africast.
Before that, however, some lighter news in the form of the new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. It, unfortunately, carries with it the same problems of low resolution and performance but does deliver on some great new character designs which the internet loves, especially a little pig named Lechonk.
For those with enough money not to worry about petrol prices you may want to pay attention to the upcoming reveal of the Asus ROG Phone 6. Previous phones in this premium line focused on gaming have not been available in South African before, but we have reason to believe this one is headed to our shores.
Finally Comair has suspended flights with Kulula and British Airways grounded in the country until the company can raise more funds. This comes at an inopportune time as Kulula just wrapped up a sale in which many people bought tickets.
Now on top the topic of petrol. The world runs on the stuff so a massive increase in it means every facet of living will likely go up. To prove this point we crunched some numbers and found that those in Gauteng may theoretically be spending almost half of their salary just on fuel to go to work.
